Seppelt Winemaker Crowned Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year
We are very proud to not only announce that Emma Wood, Chief Winemaker of Seppelt Great Western in Victoria, has been named The Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year for 2006, but also to celebrate her win with a great special offer!
Emma collected her award at a glittering gala dinner held in the Grand Ballroom of The Westin Hotel in Martin Place in Sydney on Saturday 25 November 2006.
The Adelaide-born winemaker, who graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College with First Class Honours, started her career in 1999 when she joined Southcorp's Graduate Winemaking Program.
Emma has been based at Seppelt's Great Western winery for three years. About a three hour drive west of Melbourne the Great Western region includes the Grampians in the West and Avoca in the East. With a history of more than 150 years Seppelt has built a reputation of innovation and dedication to quality. These days, Emma and the Seppelt winemaking team harness the strength and characteristics of the Victorian region with particular emphasis on Shiraz, creating varietally and regionally expressive wines.
Each of the finalists submitted three wines to the competition. Emma submitted the 2004 Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay, the 2004 St. Peter's Shiraz and the 2004 Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz.
