Deriving its name from the picturesque Mount Chalambar near Great Western in central Victoria, Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz has an excellent pedigree, having been made since 1953. Originally crafted by the legendary Colin Preece and labelled as Chalambar Burgundy, this wine has become one of the most sought after Seppelt releases each year due to its consistency, quality and value. Sourced from the Grampians and Bendigo regions in Western and Central Victoria, there is a great balance of violets, pepper and spice from the Grampians fruit that provides contrasting elegance to the strength of Bendigo's dark plum fruit. Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz highlights the benefits of blending these distinctive wine regions. The result is a style that is approachable on release with the structure to age gracefully if carefully cellared.

Viticulture dates back to the 1850s Victorian gold rush in the cool and dry Grampians. The golden nugget of this stunning terroir is delicate yet intensely flavoured Shiraz with compelling fragrance and spice.
VINTAGE CONDITIONS
Consistent rainfall during winter and spring provided good soil moisture for the first time in 4 years. Several significant summer rain events ensured above average rainfall for total season and for the first time for several years irrigation was not required until the flowering period. Full dams after 4 years of restrictions meant that irrigation was able to be applied to maintain crop yields late in season. Warmer than average growing season temperatures but no extended extreme temperatures allowed all varieties to grow and maintain good canopy.
Clare Dry - Seppelt Winemaker
Growing up on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Clare has had a long-held interest in the world of wine. Completing a Bachelor of Oenology from the University of Adelaide, Clare worked for many wineries and vineyards back in Mornington and overseas in Germany before joining Wolf Blass in 2007 as a vintage winemaker. Over the next 13 years, Clare has honed her skillset, crafting wines across varieties in both red and white wine production, while also participating in extensive wine judging. Most recently, Clare has been instrumental in crafting premium Chardonnay, a variety she greatly enjoys.
