Deriving its name from the picturesque Mount Chalambar near Great Western in central Victoria, Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz has an excellent pedigree, having been made since 1953. Originally crafted by the legendary Colin Preece and labelled as Chalambar Burgundy, this wine has become one of the most sought after Seppelt releases each year due to its consistency, quality and value.
Always a multi-regional blend - in more recent years a combination of Grampians and Heathcote fruit - Chalambar demonstrates a great balance of violets, pepper and spice alongside raspberry and mulberry fruits and well integrated cedary oak, highlighting the benefits of blending these distinctive wine regions. The result is a style that is approachable upon release with the structure to age gracefully if carefully cellared.
In 2016 Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz was ranked Australia’s #33 most cellared wine by WineArk.
