Overview
The first Moyston was made by the legendary Colin Preece in 1951 and was originally labelled as Bin H66-68 Claret - a historic wine in the Seppelt portfolio. Moyston is a small town near Ararat, a few kilometres to the south of the Seppelt Great Western vineyards in Western Victoria.
Winemaker Jo Marsh carefully selects and blends parcels displaying rich fruit concentration and varietal definition to create Seppelt Moyston Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine is only released in exceptional years. The 2007 wine was made from wine parcels sourced from the Grampians and Bendigo regions. This classic Cabernet Sauvignon had a small addition of Merlot to fill out the mid-palate and is charactersied by vibrant varietal fruit and long firm tannins, suggesting excellent cellaring potential.
Note: The tasting note reflects the wine when it was tasted upon its release. It has since evolved and developed further complexity following years of careful bottle maturation in our cellars.
Our winemaking team have recently tasted this wine and confirmed its condition. It is drinking beautifully today showcasing intriguing aged characteristics that can only be derived with the passage of time.

Vintage Conditions
2007 was a very dry, warm year in the Grampians and Bendigo regions. The season kicked off with a very early start to spring with unseasonably mild sunny weather. Vintage was about four weeks early with steady ripening after a rapid start. Cabernet Sauvignon was a particular highlight, reaching full ripeness with attractive, approachable tannins.
